The Seventh Regiment of Vistula Lancers was also called (from 1807) the Regiment of Lancers of the Polish-Italian Legion, and from 1808 also the Regiment of Lancers of the Vistula Legion. Regardless of the name, it was a Polish cavalry unit on the French pay. The unit consisted of 4 squadrons with two companies in each squadron. A single company had 128 full-time employees. Along with the staff, the entire regiment had 1,043 full-time officers and soldiers (from 1808). It is worth adding that the regiment had a lagging company, in which the best shooters and fencers as well as soldiers with the greatest combat experience served. The armament of the privates consisted of a lance, a saber and a cavalry rifle. The unit went through a long combat trail during the Napoleonic Wars, fighting in, among others, today's Italy and Germany. It was used to a large extent during the campaign on the Iberian (1808-1814). It became especially famous during the battles of Hohenlinden (1800) and Albuhera (1811).
