Hobby Boss 83874 T-18 Light tank mod.1930

The T-18 (another designation: MS-1) was a Soviet light tank from the interwar period. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1927, and serial production continued in the years 1928-1931, ending with the production of about 960 vehicles of this type. The drive was provided by a single T-18 engine for urine 35-40 KM. It was armed with a single 37mm gun and one 6.5mm Fedorov machine gun or two 7.62mm DT machineguns.

In the mid-1920s, in the USSR, there was a need to develop a domestic tank, which was to replace tanks dating back to World War I, and most often based on the Renault FT-17 design. The first prototypes were called T-16, but they did not enter mass production. Only after the suspension, engine and undercarriage elements were improved, the tank entered production under the designation T-18, and later the designation was changed to MS-1. In the course of production, the T-18 was subject to modernization, e.g. it was equipped with 2 machine guns instead of one. The T-18 was introduced to the line in 1928 as the first domestic tank in the Red Army. However, since 1931 it was systematically replaced by the much more perfect T-26 tank. Based on the T-18 tank, the design of the SU-18 self-propelled gun was created.
