The Sukhoi Su-2 is a Soviet, single-engine light bomber and stormtrooper, in a low wing design with a classic tail of a mixed structure from the Second World War. The prototype flight took place in August 1937, and serial production continued in 1940-1942. About 900 aircraft of this type were produced. The drive was provided by a 1000HP 14-cylinder Tumanski M-88 radial engine. The machine was produced in one version, designated as Su-2. In addition, there were two versions that did not go into production: ShB and Su-4. The Su-2 suffered considerable damage during Operation Barbarossa and from 1942 it was moved to training units. Large losses resulted from the average performance of the machine, its poor armor, sending the bombers to air raids without escort, low training of Soviet pilots and low-quality production of serial copies. The Su-2 gave way to the Il-2 and Pe-2 planes. Technical data: length: 10.46m, wingspan: 14.3m, height: 3.75m, maximum speed: 485km / h, climb speed: 8.5m / s, practical ceiling: 8400m, maximum range: 1100km, weapons: fixed - 6 SzKAS 7.62mm machine guns, suspended - up to 400 kg bombs or 10 RS-82 rockets or 8 RS-132 rockets.
