DISCONTINUED Valom 72067 Saro A.29 Cloud Royal Air Force

The Saro Cloud was a British monoplane training boat from the interwar period and World War II. The drive was provided by - in version A.29 - two engines Armstrong-Siddeley Serval III with 340 hp each. The prototype flight took place in 1930. About 20 examples of this aircraft were produced in the course of serial production. The machine - in the basic version - did not have a fixed armament.

The Saro Cloud was designed as a private initiative of the Saunders-Roe plants to create a larger version of the highly successful A.17 Cutty Sark flying boat. The machine was designed for the civilian market, but copies for the RAF were also produced, which were used primarily for training pilots and navigators. They served only in the period 1935-1939. Several development versions of the machine were created in the course of serial production. Civil versions had the markings from A.19 / 1 to A.19 / 5 and differed mainly in the used engines with different, but oscillating around 300 HP, power. The military version (A.29) was powered by engines Armstrong-Siddeley Serval III with 340 hp each. Czechoslovakia turned out to be the only foreign recipient of the Saro Cloud aircraft.
