Military Wheels 7204 Russian anti-aircraft system 2S6M Tunguska

The 2S6M Tunguska (another designation: 2K22, NATO code: SA-19 Garison) is a Soviet, and currently Russian, anti-aircraft artillery and missile system with a tracked chassis. The first prototypes of this car appeared in 1981, and serial production started in 1982, reaching full operational readiness four years later. The truck is powered by a single V-46-6-MS engine with a power of up to 840 HP. The vehicle is armed with two 30mm 2A38 2-barrel autocannons and 8 9M311 launchers.

The 2S6M Tunguska was developed to replace the ZSU-23-4 Shilka in the Soviet Army. Compared to its predecessor, it differs in many elements. First of all, it has artillery and missile weapons, not only artillery, and also has a completely different propulsion unit with a much greater maximum power, it is also much heavier. The main task of the 2S6M Tunguska is to provide anti-aircraft defense for its own mechanized and armored units at short distances, understood as fighting enemy helicopters and attack aircraft. Two major upgrades appeared in the course of serial production: 2K22M (version with new anti-aircraft missiles and a new fire control system) and 2K22M 57E6 (version with new radar and 57E6 missiles).
