Quatro was an Italian light cruiser from World War I and the interwar period. The keel was laid under this vessel in 1909, the launch took place in 1911, and in March 1913 - the ship was commissioned. Its length at the time of launching was 131.6 meters and a width of 12.8 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 3,500 tons, and maximum speed - up to 28 knots. The armament consisted of: 6 120 mm guns, 6 76 mm guns or about 200 naval mines.
Quatro was one of the Italian so-called reconnaissance cruisers, the construction of which turned out to be a necessity for the Italian Regia Marina along with the construction and commissioning of Giulio Cesare dreadnoughts. The unit was designed to be relatively heavily armed and, above all, very fast. To achieve the highest maximum speed, the ship was equipped with steam turbines. Thus, the Quatro was the first Italian cruiser to use this type of propulsion! During World War I, the unit took part in as many as 54 combat operations, operating mainly against the Austro-Hungarian fleet in the Adriatic Sea. After 1918, the cruiser underwent renovation and slight modernization. The unit was on patrol in the Red Sea during the War in Ethiopia (1935-1936) and in the Western Mediterranean during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Quatro was decommissioned in early 1939 and did not take an active part in World War II.
