The Oksywie lighthouse (another name: Gdynia-Oksywie) is a historic, German, and later Polish lighthouse, which did not survive to our times, and was located in the area of today's city of Gdynia. The height of the lighthouse tower was 10 m, and the height of the light it cast into the sea - approx. 46.5 m above sea level. The range of the white light it cast was 8 nautical miles (NM), or approx. 14.8 kilometers. The lighthouse was situated on a cliff in the present-day district of Gdynia called Oksywie, and operated from 1887. Until 1918, it had undergone several modernizations aimed at improving the range of its light. In 1920, the lighthouse passed under Polish administration and fulfilled its role until 1933, when it was replaced by new navigation and signaling lights built together with the port in Gdynia. In 1939, the lighthouse was completely demolished by the Germans. In order to commemorate the lighthouse, a monument was erected in its place in 2007.
