The Kawasaki Ki-48 is a Japanese twin-engine light bomber with a classic tail and metal structure from the World War II period. The allied name of this plane is Lily. The stimulus for the creation of the Ki-48 was the contact of the Japanese with Soviet SB-2 bombers. Design works began in 1937, and the prototype flight and mass production took place in 1939. The first production version was designated Ki-48-I. From 1942, a new version (Ki-48-II) was produced with armor plates around the key points of the aircraft and with self-sealing fuel tanks and new Nakajima Ha-115 engines with 1150KM each. It was produced until 1944. In 1945, the Ki-48-II was also used as kamikaze aircraft. The Ki-48s turned out to be too slow and practically defenseless against the American fighters during the war in the Pacific. Technical data: length: 12.75 m, wingspan: 17.45 m, height: 3.8 m, maximum speed: 505 km / h, maximum range: 2400 km, maximum ceiling 10100 m, armament: fixed - 3 machine guns Type 89 cal. 7 , 7mm, suspended - up to 800 kg of bombs.
