The KW-9 is a Soviet prototype heavy tank from the Second World War. Only two prototypes of this car were built in 1942 - the car never entered mass production. The combat weight of the vehicle was 47 tons. It was armed with a single 122 mm U-11 howitzer and three 7.62 mm DT machineguns. The drive was provided by a single engine with a power of 600 HP. The KW-9 was designed in essence as a development version of the KW-1 tank, and work on it began at the end of 1941. It was assumed that the new vehicle would be a universal vehicle, capable of destroying both enemy fortifications and armored vehicles - especially tanks. The KW-9 differed in relation to its predecessor, first of all, in the changed shape of the turret, completely different and much more powerful main armament and reinforced armor, especially in the front of the vehicle. Despite the fact that at the beginning of 1942, the vehicle successfully underwent field tests, it was not put into mass production.
