The Geschützwagen IVb für 10.5cm leFH 18/1 (Sf) vehicle was developed on the basis of many components of the Pz.Kpfw. IV tank. However, the hull was shortened, a new power unit was used, and a completely different turret was used, which was exposed from above. After a series of field tests, mass production was withdrawn. Only 8 prototypes of this vehicle were produced. The reason for the lack of commencement of this production was, first of all, the change in the requirements imposed on vehicles of this type by the German armed forces. All produced copies were sent to fighting on the Eastern Front. To this day, no copy of this car has survived.
