The FIAT G.91 is an Italian fighter-attack aircraft with an all-metal structure, low wing design, and oblique wings. The history of the aircraft goes back to the announcement by NATO in 1953 of a competition for a new light fighter attack known as the LWSF. As part of this competition, the FIAT concern has just created the G.91 plane, the prototype of which had its flight in August 1956. Two years later, the machines entered service. The plane turned out to be a great construction success and served in Italian, German and Portuguese aviation until the beginning of the 90s! In total, 770 machines of this type were built. The main power unit of most versions was the Bristol Siddeley Orpheus 803 engine, but in the G.91Y version it was replaced by two General Electric J85 engines. Two main versions were created: the G.91R-fighter-attack aircraft and the G.91T-training version. Technical data (version G.91R): Maximum speed: 1075 km / h, speed of climb: 30 m / s, maximum ceiling 13100 m, maximum range: 1150 km, armament: fixed - 4 M2 machine guns, caliber 12.7 mm and 2 30mm DEFA cannons, suspended - up to 1814 kg of cargo.
