The Grumman F9F Panther is an American single-engine on-board fighter plane. The flight of the prototype took place in 1947, and it entered the F9F linear units just before the outbreak of the Korean War. The serial F9Fs were powered by licensed Rolls-Royce RB.44 Tay engines (American designation: Pratt-Whitney J48-P-2). In total, 1,382 copies of this successful on-board plane were created. It took an active and active part during the Korean War, where the pilots fighting on it recorded several killings of Mig 15. The F9F became the main US Navy fighter and the main assault machine of the Marine Corps during the conflict. Future astronauts: John Glenn and Neil Armstrong flew them. The planes were withdrawn from the line in 1956.
