Ukrayina (another name: Komsomolets) is now a Ukrainian Slava-class missile cruiser, the keel of which was laid in 1983 and launched in 1990. The unit, however, never achieved the status of full combat readiness. The total length of the ship is 186.4 meters, the overall width is 20.8 meters, and the displacement is approx. 11,500 tons. It is estimated that the maximum speed is up to 32 knots. The Sława-class missile cruisers were built as a supplement and a kind of "insurance policy" of the Soviet fleet in the event of failure of the implementation of the Kirov-class cruiser program. Fame-type units were built from the beginning for ocean operations, and their main purpose would be to counter air and surface targets of a potential enemy. They also received a powerful battery of 16 SS-N-12 missiles located on both sides of the superstructure. One of the ships of this class is the Ukrayina, which was launched just before the collapse of the USSR, and was not completed and commissioned at that time due to great financial problems. It was part of the Ukrainian fleet in 1993, but was not a combat-capable unit. In 1997, the Ukrainian parliament decided to sell the unit, but the decision was not carried out. The vessel was standing unfinished and rusting in the port of Mikołajewo. In 2018, there were speculations that Brazil was interested in purchasing the ship.
